I’ve heard the old saying that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck for the new couple. But I’ve also learned over the years that it’s not necessarily comforting to tell a bride that when rain is in the forecast! Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches, and know that everything happens for a reason. Florida has moody weather that can change in an instant, and we’ve learned to adapt and overcome!
We met Jordan and Tatum at their incredible engagement session in Sarasota back in the spring of 2020. We immediately connected with their positive bubbly attitudes and immense love for one another. There is just this vibe about them as a couple that exudes contagious happiness and belly laughs! After the engagement session, we knew that we were in for something special for their big day in June 2021 at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
The day of the wedding had finally arrived, and wouldn’t you know it – rain was in the forecast. Tension was high during the hours leading up to the ceremony. See, for all of Tatum’s life she had wanted an outdoor ceremony! And at the Lakewood Ranch Country Club they have a gorgeous outdoor spiral staircase that the bride can make their entrance from into the outdoor ceremony site.
After many back and forth, hopes and prayers, the amazing team at the club decided to make the rain call and bring the ceremony indoors. We knew that the staircase held special meaning to Tatum and Jordan, so we had big plans for them after the ceremony to incorporate this into their gallery and film.
From viewing the photos and wedding highlight film, would you have ever guessed it dumped buckets for about an hour in the middle of the day?! Garry, Ryan, and I take our jobs as artists very seriously and made it our mission to tell this beautiful love story in a gorgeous way with attention to detail.
The moral of the story? While rain may be good luck for the couple, it doesn’t have to mean a washout for us as creatives! The show must go on!
