Bella Cosa was originally known as Lake Pierce Club and was built in 1925. It was visited by famous people from actors and actresses to the President of the United States.
In the 40s and 50s it was renamed as The Bonaire and continued to be a location frequented by people looking for a good time and a wonderful place to stay.
Until the end of the 60s it continued to be used as a hotel and then passed through a succession of owners, including a Vietnamese family who housed refugees there.
In 2016 it was purchased by Rev. Jim Way, the President of Capernaum Ministeries, at which time it was renamed Capernaum Lakeside Lodge. The Ministry carried out extensive renovations of the property restoring its natural beauty, including restoring the oak flooring and stripping back the walls to their original state.
The building changed hands again and renamed Bella Cosa Lakeside Lodge & Venue. It has been used as an exclusive-use wedding venue ever since and is now known simply by the name Bella Cosa.

The terrace
Set against the serene lake and framed by towering trees, the terrace provides a storybook setting for your ceremony of up to 200 people. Its natural beauty and romantic ambiance make it an enchanting space to say “I do.” This is where your fairytale wedding comes to life.
Getting Ready Rooms
Get ready with your wedding party (and a glass of fizz) in our Getting Ready Room! This spacious room has large hair and makeup stations with spots to hang your dresses or suits and plenty of room for those candid pre-wedding photos!
Estate Grounds
Bella Cosa’s gardens are a haven of beauty, with breathtaking handcrafted landscaping designed to amaze. As you wander through, you’ll find a sweeping staircase leading from the terrace to the lake, offering dramatic flair and elegance to your wedding photos. Whether exchanging vows or enjoying the scenery, the gardens create a picturesque and romantic escape for you and your guests.

Yes! This venue has the major benefit of providing getting ready spaces for both soon-to-be-spouses and their parties. The bridal suite is spacious and well-lit. The second story has multiple bedrooms for getting ready moments as well. Being in one location helps your team capture the best pre-wedding ceremony moments with ease.
A few of our most frequently asked questions as a wedding photographer at the Bella Cosa Lakeside
Where do you recommend taking our family portraits?
The best location for family portraits will be based off of time of day and lighting. We love using your beautiful ceremony display as a backdrop for these photos but if lighting isn't ideal, Bella Cosa estate grounds provide multiple locations with the perfect setup for this opportunity.
What time should we schedule our wedding ceremony to begin?
This is highly contingent on the specific time of year and sunset. Take into consideration the natural light available to and base your ceremony time around that. For instance, a good rule of thumb is to start your ceremony about 1.5 hours before sunset. If you're not doing a first look, allow at least 2 hours before sunset.
What type of exit or leave do you recommend?
Traditional sparklers work well at this venue! Or you can take it up a notch with cold sparks (available most often through your DJ) for a grand exit. Our favorite we've seen so far is a 3 minute firework display that could be seen from the front of the estate.
How long should we plan to take Bride & Groom portraits?
This section of your photography timeline is arguably the most important. That being said, you will most likely need to plan to not attend cocktail hour. We know that's probably no the news you were hoping for, but trust us - it's worth the sacrifice! Plan for at a minimum of 25 - 30 minutes to get those most crucial sweetheart photos of just the two of you during the golden hour before sunset. An alternative to this is, of course, to incorporate a 'first look' well before ceremony so you can accomplish more photos beforehand.

Bella Cosa offers 11 beautifully furnished rooms and suites, accommodating up to 34 guests. Each room features its own unique charm, with many boasting king-size beds, lake views, and thoughtful touches like ornate fireplaces and large flat-screen TVs.
